LS6 454 Chevelle. Amazes me that so few Chevelles of any year ever show off and come to the cruises or shows

Love the flame job... and the chrome pipes.

the green one isn't a Merc, or a Chev... how about that?

elite bike, cars, new car Just put it on the ground, and no one can steal it right?

elite bike, cars, new car Great pinstriping, cool old license plate.

elite bike,cars,new car
elite bike, cars, new car Hudson. How cool is that?

Round up of the cool, but unique.

elite bike, cars, new car A Deosoto Fireflite Coronado, with it's own artwork. Neat.

elite bike, cars, new car Just looks cool

elite bike, cars, new car Most factory gauges for a car that only has a 289? I bet it is. Looks very cool, 140 speedo is a bit optimistic for factory tuning, but it's added cool factor.

elite bike, cars, new car How about a green sun roof, super sized? This just floods my thoughts with 50's optimistic sales brochures of long drives through the southwest deserts, touristing to the Grand Canyon, Carlsbad Caverns, White Sands, Bonneville.... green interior is a nice touch.

1956 Mercury Monterey Sun Valley. Why the owner didn't put it in the show.... no accounting for tastes I suppose. It goes to reinforce my long held belief that cars just as cool as those on display are in the parking lot, everytime.

Round up of the cool, but unique, at Coronado's car show

elite bike, cars, new car An MG with a supercharger. Owner was overheard saying it boosted output 30%, and now has no qualms going up steep hills.

elite bike, cars, new car Ever notice the small stuff? This Jaguar tach, made by Smiths, moves counter clockwise, and the top center gauge needles move away from each other... cool points awarded for difference in design, instead of the same ol, same ol.

elite bike, cars, new car Buick Caballero. When station wagons were cool, and had wrap around glass for the raised half of the tailgate.

elite bike, cars, new car Again with the small stuff... what are the odds on 2 cool 60's Vettes parking next to each other on the same street, at the same car show, with the SAME LAST 3 DIGITS on their license plates? Wow... total effect wow.

Over the Hill Gang has got to be proud of this... so cool, thats craftmanship there.

66 Ford Custom 500. I've never seen one before. Cool!

elite bike, cars, new car When is the last time you saw Holley valve covers?
elite bike, cars, new car Cragar S/S always look good, blue brake drums, nice!
elite bike,cars,new car
Sort of the lowest level in Ford's medium size cars for 66, the next level up would have been a Galaxie I think.

Old T-birds should never have the steering wheel of a Trans-am. That's just wrong

elite bike,cars,new car

Cadillac, with the Hotel Del logo on the side... huge car.

elite bike,cars,new car

Sorry the relative size isn't easier to make out, but it casts a bigger profile than that red car, a late 40's early 50's... and you know how big those are. This thing is huge!elite bike, cars, new car

Beautiful scripting.

elite bike, cars, new car This gets the "grand poohbah, high exalted, big daddy" trophy for exquisite scrollwork. Not sure if it was free hand, or template.. but wow, thats freaking impressive. Cadillac knew they were the king of the hill and got the rights to the family crest of the Cadillac family. That's confidence. Notice the Elgin clock... style all the way.
elite bike, cars, new car Strange intake, carb, etc etc. Love the spark plug wire tube, keeps everything in the proper place. Aesthetic.
elite bike, cars, new car If I had Edison spark plugs, I'd never change them either. No idea about albanite, but labeling each plug with UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is dead on.

Shelby GT 350's. All 3 types were present at Coronado

elite bike, cars, new car Full race version, even has stuff I've never seen before. If you look closely, you'll see that the rear window is the race style that bends into the cabin, instead of a linear curve from trunk to roof.
That it's got a license plate and current registration for legal road driving... means don't try to race it the next time you happen to meet up at the light.
elite bike, cars, new car Here's a dual quad 289, and a Hertz version. Cool.

I used to think these were rare. Stupid, they are just expensive and I never went to the rich neighborhoods were these occupy garages. Turns out, more GT 350's were made than Coronet R/T's.

VW microbuses were in force at Coronado

Woody's Chili Dogs, Saturday night ended right. Clairemont neighborhood cruisers hang out

elite bike,cars,new car
elite bike,cars,new car
elite bike, cars, new car Turn here, it's a right hand turn if you are heading West from the 805 or Genesee area of Clairemont. You can just make out a couple of rods there in the parking lot. This big 'ol signpost is a darn good landmark. Woody's is on the flip side of this bank building.

1970 build your own convertible GTX, from Virginia, (cool plates)

elite bike, cars, new car Of course Plymouth didn't make any, so this cool guy decided he was the right man for the job of adding one to the lexicon. Really, look at this, and tell me what was the brain trust at Mother Mopar thinking when they didn't do this? It's a no brainer for sure.

elite bike, cars, new carJust take and find one of the 700 or so ever made convertible Satellites (yeah, right... good luck finding one for sale) add the GTX grill and tail light parts. Put together a bitchin' 440, add some Lakewood bars if you like the look, shoe it with terrific looking Torque Thrust D's, put the GTX emblems behind the side scoops, and Bob's your uncle, (viola is so damn French, them buggers) you've got a damn fine looking and performing drop top.
elite bike, cars, new car Still a little course for some, but the owner said he's not looking to be worried about every scratch and ding, it's a machine for enjoying, not a trophy hunter. Rock on.
elite bike,cars,new car
elite bike, cars, new car I just dig this view.

Hot Rod City ( in El Cajon) went out of business a couple years ago

elite bike,cars,new car
elite bike,cars,new car
This is in the showroom, of the now "East County Collision center". How a full race saturn ends up there, minus the drivetrain... no idea. Hot Rod City was a cool place to look around in, full dealership feel to 30's and 40's customs for sale, think of a Good Guys car show where it's all for sale.

Has a car show on Thursday nights

elite bike,cars,new car
Cruisin' Italiano Style Cruise Night, 5 to 8 p.m., Thursdays, Pernicano's Restaurant, 1588 E. Main St. (at Broadway), El Cajon. Open to pre-1973 classics and hot rods; music and trophies will be included. Information: (619) 338-5225 or (619) 444-4546.
